“Euthanasia” literally translated means “good death,” and while we’re heartbroken for owners and pets requiring our services, we are also honored to be a part of the process of helping create a beautiful goodbye and a peaceful passing. Our basic Euthanasia package includes:

  • Travel time to your location*
  • An open, relaxed discussion regarding any questions or concerns you may have regarding the euthanasia process
  • Sedation
  • Peaceful Euthanasia
  • Memorial Keepsakes, such as a clay pawprint and/or lock of fur
  • Grief Resources
  • Transportation to Nature’s Way Pet Aftercare for cremation if desired
  • Courtesy notification to your family veterinarian for their records

*Additional charges may apply if outside of our typical 25-mile radius.

Appointment Information

  • To request an appointment, you may call/text us at (260) 222-1134 or make a request online here:
  • After an appointment has been scheduled, Dr. Krystle will send you a courtesy text, notifying you when she is on her way the day of your appointment.
  • Once Dr. Krystle arrives, she will explain the procedure and what to expect based on your interest or comfort level. Some may prefer to have this conversation prior to arrival. We welcome any questions, concerns or preferences throughout the process.
  • Next, an injectable sedative will be given. Your pet may experience a slight “pinch” similar to what they would feel when being given a routine vaccine. You are welcome to remain with your pet during the sedation process and hold or soothe them as they fall asleep.
  • Although each pet’s response may be slightly different, the sedation typically takes effect within 10-20 minutes
  • Next, a vein will be located, when possible, to administer the euthanasia solution. This will ensure the medication takes effect quickly, typically within seconds.
  • After the euthanasia solution has been given, Dr. Krystle will then listen to the heart to confirm that it has stopped and that the peaceful passing is complete.
  • Once your beloved pet has passed, you will have privacy to say any final goodbyes if you wish
  • If cremation has been chosen, Dr. Krystle will then gently and respectfully transport your pet from your home to her vehicle. Family members are welcome to assist if willing/able. Stretchers are available for our larger patients.
  • If individual cremation was selected and you are receiving your pet’s ashes back, their ashes will typically be available for return in 5-10 days in an urn of your choosing.

The beauty of in-home euthanasia is that we can customize this process in a way that makes you and your pet feel comfortable as well as allows your pet to be surrounded by love and familiarity in the comfort of their own home. We are happy to discuss any individual requests or preferences at the time you make your appointment. We want you to be able to say goodbye on your terms and in a way that feels most authentic to you and your pet.
